Fe 600 TMT bars are very high-strength reinforcement steel bars with a minimum yield strength of about 600 N/mm², designed for heavy-load and large-span RCC structures.
They provide superior load-bearing capacity and allow reduction in steel quantity and congestion compared to lower grades, while maintaining adequate elongation for safe performance under dynamic and seismic loads.
Recommended use: high-rise buildings, long-span bridges and flyovers, heavy industrial structures, metro/rail viaducts, dams, and other infrastructure requiring very high reinforcement strength.
High Strength Fe 600 TMT Bar
Material: High-strength low-alloy steel processed through thermo-mechanical treatment to achieve Fe 600 grade.
Yield strength: ≈600 N/mm².
Ultimate tensile strength: ≈660 N/mm² or higher, giving UTS/YS ratio above 1.06.
Elongation at break: around 8–10% depending on manufacturer and variant.
Key advantages:
Up to roughly 15–20% reduction in steel consumption in heavily loaded members versus Fe 500, leading to slimmer sections and easier concreting.
High fatigue resistance and good performance under repeated and dynamic loading, suitable for bridges, flyovers, and industrial foundations.
Available in standard, corrosion-resistant, and epoxy-coated versions for aggressive or marine environments.
